David Munroe


David Munroe graduated mid-2005 with an MSc in Statistics with First Class Honours from Massey University (Albany), New Zealand. His thesis involved stochastic modelling, simulation, and implementation of algorithms for infilling missing data in rainfall space-time series. David has also studied computer science courses and is interested in areas such as: genetic programming, artificial intelligence, algorithm development, and optimisation.


David has an excellent academic record and has received a number of scholarships including the Massey University Masterate scholarship, an IIMS [Institute of Information and Mathematical Sciences] scholarship, and a scholarship from Public Health Intelligence, New Zealand. He has also worked as an academic mentor at Massey, mentoring students from a number of backgrounds including business, accounting, and (naturally) statistics.


In 2004, David attained the rank of 2nd degree black belt in Shaolin Kempo, having studied the art of Kempo for the last 9 years. He is also interested in chess, music (grade 8 piano), and reading — especially fantasy and science fiction.
