ICFS-Plus: Actuarial Software for the Property and Causality Insurance Industry

ICRFS-Plus™ Training videos for new users

If for any reason you are unable to view the training or demonstration videos, please contact our support staff at support@insureware.com and we will arrange to send you a copy of the videos on CD-Rom. You will be able to run the videos from the CD.

The training videos should be used for hands on training. We suggest you run the videos on a separate computer using a data projector, and train as a group.

The only way you will learn all the new concepts and be able to exploit all the immense benefits is by using the system. Experiential learning is imperative.

It is important that you study the videos in sequential order set out below.

Table of Contents

1. Introduction to ICRFS-Plus™ 10 and modelling modules

    2. PTF modelling

      3. ICRFS-Plus™ 10 modelling wizard and other features

      4. MPTF modelling

        5. ICRFS-Plus™ 10 and NAIC Schedule P

          3. ICRFS-Plus™ 10 modelling wizard and other features

          3.1 WIZARD 1

The first part of the video briefly discusses what you need to know when upgrading from ICRFS-Plus™ 9.2 to to ICRFS-Plus™ 10. (Beginners will have to persevere for approx 2 minutes)

A Wizard is a set of commands or script instructing ICRFS-Plus™ to perform certain modelling functions. This introduces the Wizard by first modelling the TG ABC manually. The Wizard designs a number of models. Axiomatic properties of trends are discussed leading to Conditions A, B and C.

Non-identifiably of trends is illustrated with TG SDF. An example involving Case Reserve Estimates versus Paid Losses is also given.

          3.2 WIZARD 2

Video Wizard 2 revisits TG ABC. Testing of Wizard created models is discussed. Editing of Wizard, removing script, adding script is also shown. TG CS5 is used to discuss heteroscedasticity (changes in percentage variability). This was also studied in Video 2.2. The new automatic hetero button (function) is illustrated. The Wizard is applied to TGs CS5 and WCOM and models created are amended and compared.

The wizard is also tested against simulated data from a model with very low process variance. The wizard is shown to reproduce the original structure that were used specify the model perfectly.

It is important that you view Video Wizard 1 before Video Wizard 2 as the discussion is cumulative.

          3.3 Miscellaneous Features

The following video demonstrates a various number of features not included in the previous videos. These features include: manually creating a triangle group, updating and/or expanding existing triangle groups, collapsing triangle groups (for example, from monthly data to quarterly data), exploring different forecast scenarios and forecast options, tail factors, and the variance to periods option.
